Las Vegas was home to some very disappointed boxing fans on March 26th.The highly anticipated Steve Cunningham-Matt Godfrey Cruiserweight title fight was officially canceled.  Despite numerous attempts on the part of ESPN and others to resurrect the title match, ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights did not show the fight. There has been much speculation on whom or what exactly is the cause of the cancellation.

Sources say there were contract disputes between legendary promoter Don King and ESPN, regarding a “right of first refusal/right to match” contract clause.  Attempts to move the fight to another venue to Chicago were then dismissed by Matt Godfrey’s camp, claiming the fighter missed too many days of training when they first thought the fight may be canceled.

Talk of cancellation never slowed the formidable USS Steve Cunningham.A true champion, Cunningham continued to train and was definitely on board for the change of venue.  Not wanting to waste time, money or this opportunity, Cunningham was more than prepared and ready to rumble.

Due to his cancellation, Godfrey is now dropped from IBF rankings and has lost this chance to fight for the cruiserweight title.  Cunningham will now be taking on Troy Ross, winner of “The Contender”.Angerwear and all of Cunningham’s fans, while disappointed to miss this fight, know that there is still quite a great battle for the title in the future, and are anxiously awaiting.

On Saturday, March 20th, 2010 in Dusseldorf, Germany, American Eddie Chambers had a chance to become the boxing Heavyweight World Champion. That would have been ideal, but things didn't go as planned for "Fast Eddie."  Instead of earning the title belt, defending champ Wladimir Klitschko
knocked-out Chambers with a mere five seconds remaining in the twelfth, and final, round.

Despite some early jabs connecting with his giant 6'6" target, Chambers was unable to compete with his opponent's greater size, strength, and skill.

Klitschko appeared in control as he methodically dictated the pace of each round.  Defensively, he was able to keep Chambers at arm's length and protect himself.  On the offensive, "Dr. Steelhammer" worked
Chambers over with arguably the best jab in the division.

With his victory, Klitschko remains the IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight title holder. His record improves to 54-3, with 38 KOs.

For Chambers, the outcome ends his five match win streak and his record falls to 35-2.  Look for Eddie to get back into the ring soon.

Top American heavyweight Eddie Chambers is set to take on Ukrainian giant and WBO/IBF World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday night, March 20th, in Dusseldorf, Germany.

"Fast Eddie" enters the bout with a 35-1 record which includes 18 knock-outs.  Current champ, "Dr. Steelhammer" Klitschko, holds an even more impressive 53-3 record, with 47 knock-outs.

With a fight this important, against such an experienced and successful opponent, some boxers may question their readiness. On the contrary, Chambers feels more than ready for the challenge.

"I feel great, both physically and mentally! I'm in the best shape of my career. We've done a lot of things in camp to prepare."

Chambers has put his body through punishing work-outs, but has taken a comprehensive approach to his preparation by also studying some of Klitschko's previous fights to gain an edge.  Things he has seen other fighters do in losses to "Dr. Steelhammer," he has accounted for to improve his chance for success.

"I use different angles, different movement and work my jab and stay behind my jab and will not allow Vladimir to keep his distance all day and pound away."

As for what fans can expect of the highly-touted championship fight, and more specifically "Fast Eddie," this is his take on the matter.

A lot of speed; a lot of ability and movement and an overall work rate that it takes to be the heavyweight champion of the world on the night of March 20th.

This will be the first world title opportunity for Chambers, but his third time fighting in Germany. On his most recent trip (July 2009), "Fast Eddie" bested the then undefeated Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko
in Hamberg.
